50 Fifty DTC Office Building

50 Fifty DTC is a unique tower that contains a six-story office building above eight levels of parking (two underground) in the Denver Tech Center of Colorado. The area is known for its typical suburban office complex featuring buildings set among a sea of asphalt parking lots and expansive lawns. With the densification of the area the client wanted something different and design inspired by nautical nuances. The office building’s design was driven by a desire to express a strong sense of style on a highly visible property. Every material selected for the construction of 50 FIFTY was considered with only quality and performance in mind. From the handpicked granite to local artwork adorning the hallways, there were no short cuts taken, only design excellence.

The 50 Fifty DTC office building employs floor-to-ceiling performance glass, and strategically placed light wells to both maximize site effectiveness and promote workplace wellness and sustainable design. 100% covered, secured parking at 3.5 spaces per 1,000 SF, Common Conference Room, Collaborative Lounge and Work Space Areas, State-of-the-Art Fitness Center, Secure Bicycle Storage & Mechanics Station, all with expansive views and high-end finishes appeal to companies who want the amenities and style of an urban location.

Bomanite Licensee, Colorado Hardscapes’ scope of work was concentrated on the building’s grand porte-cochère. Tucked beneath a series of V-shaped structural members, the design creates a dramatic entry and is intricately articulated with lighting both above and below to resemble the motion of waves lapping against a vessel. Guests are greeted with a direct view into the marble-lined lobby through the elegant interior glass curtains. An adjacent terrace offers a semi-private garden level space.

The architects plan called for Bomanite’s Sandscape Refined Exposed Aggregate System, using a white Color Hardener and combining locally-sourced aggregates with crushed mirror glass to resemble the sun reflecting off the water for the curbs and walkways. The design called for a great deal of precision related to saw cuts both as joints and aesthetic elements. Saw-cut joints radiate toward the building in diverging rays and special, radius-cut joints were fit-out with illumination to mimic the undulating LED lights integrated overhead. Recognizing the difficulties with delivering a uniform finish with the Bomanite Sandscape Refined System on complex, curved, and multi-level surfaces, Colorado Hardscapes worked to address this challenge with additional technical training and multiple testing to produce the expected quality and hi-end result. The detailed walkways and curbs seamlessly match the interior décor which contrasts against the dark-grey Integrally Colored concrete broom finished drive lanes, creating a black-tie luxury experience.

Bomanite Sandscape Refined is an architectural exposed concrete with a very fine exposure depth. The Sandscape Refined System utilizes specialized concrete mix designs, dry shake color hardener and/or integral color, topical treatments and advanced application procedures to produce a finished product that showcases the fine aggregate. The final product is a unique alternate to other decorative concrete finishes that produces a monolithic concrete slab with a low life cycle cost due to the pre-aged nature of the surface.  Bomanite Sandscape Refined is suited for exterior applications both new construction and major renovation projects. Bomanite Sandscape Refined is a perfect choice anywhere that improved wear resistance for light- to moderate-duty vehicular or foot traffic combined with an architectural finish is necessary. Due to the use of Bomanite Color Hardener, these highly durable surfaces are available in a multitude of colors, including cost effective light-reflective formulations that may not require the use of white cement to reduce heat island effect.

This Nautical themed office complex with its floor-to-ceiling glass, natural light that fills every office and core space, environmentally friendly products, water saving landscape design, creates an extremely energy efficient building. The sustainable design, materials and construction allow 50 Fifty to seek LEED Gold certification with this stunning sophisticated design.

Colorado Hardscapes won the 2018 Best Bomanite Exposed Aggregate System Silver Award for their precision and technical installation.

Harrisburg High School Mascot Logo

Bomanite Licensee, Musselman & Hall Contractors worked with Kerkhover Studio Architects to develop a custom mascot logo for Harrisburg High School located in Harrisburg, IL. The original design called for a purple Integrally colored band with stamped letters to read “Harrisburg Bulldogs” surrounding an inner circle of stamped concrete in a brick pattern.

Several contractors provided pricing but could not provide acceptable proof of previous similar work experience, thus Musselman & Hall was contacted for their extensive work and ability to provide samples of design ideas and installed projects to show them. After the initial phone conversation with the project manager, Musselman & Hall set up a meeting with the team to review the original design and provide some new exciting modern options.

The team was so excited with the new options they chose to go with a Bomanite Exposed Aggregate Alloy System that involved a custom Harrisburg Mascot Purple Color Hardener and engraving of the text and mascot at the center. The Team loved the design and the sparkle.

Bomanite Alloy is an architectural exposed concrete with varying exposure depths using non-native quartz and decorative aggregates that are surface seeded on concrete. Due to the use of Bomanite Color Hardener, Bomanite Alloy is well known for its highly durable surface. Bomanite Alloy also provides increased surface and slip resistance. Bomanite Alloy is suited for exterior applications— anywhere that improved wear resistance for light- to moderate-duty vehicular or foot traffic combined with an architectural finish is necessary, which makes it perfect for the exterior walkway of the Harrisburg High School. The final product is a unique alternate to other decorative concrete finishes that the school staff and students will enjoy for many years to come.

Marriott Courtyard Hotel

The Marriott Courtyard Asheville Airport Hotels entryway and guests terrace received a much needed beautiful makeover.  Bomanite Licensee, Carolina Bomanite, was called in by the general contractor, Pro Construction, on advice from the owner. The owner, Touchstone Hospitality, was having a workmanship issue with the first pour of stamped concrete by a local contractor. Lack of skilled labor, lack of multiple tools led to a very poorly poured terrace off the meeting area. The client had used Carolina Bomanite before on a Hampton Inn Hotel project and was familiar with the workmanship and asked if they could remedy the issues.

Carolina Bomanite was able to review the project and recommend corrections that were in need for standard regulation pours and stamped concrete work. All of the curb and gutter at the porte-cochere was 11” to low and the area leading to the front door exceeded 5% slope. In addition, a small smoking patio sidewalk had to be reworked with a twist in order to get enough length to keep the slope under 3%. All of these items were noticed by the Carolina Bomanite team. Carolina Bomanite first took control of the grades, and then made some adjustments to the pattern and the project turned out great. The Bomacron English Sidewalk Slate Pattern and Bomacron Slate Texture were used for the porte-cochere area with Bomanite Caramel Color Hardener and Bomanite Forest Brown Release colors. For the circular terrace area, the Bomacron Running Bond Used Brick pattern was installed with a Bomanite Brick Red Color Hardener.

Touchstone Hospitality was very pleased with the work done. Guests are now welcomed with a properly installed, safe, stylish stamped concrete entrance and inviting relaxing stamped concrete terrace.

First United Methodist Church

Bomanite Licensee, Bomanite of Tulsa created a stunning exterior star graphic that was incorporated into the walkways at the First United Methodist Church located in Tulsa, OK. Sandscape Texture by Bomaanite in a neutral color was installed with the use of Bomanite Con-Color to accentuate the graphic providing an appealing and affordable design.

Bomanite Sandscape® Texture is designed for outdoor applications where an alternate to a conventional concrete finish is required. Bomanite Sandscape® Texture resembles sand blasted concrete and can incorporate specialized colored sands and/or aggregates exceeding 3/8” diameter. The finish is an economical alternate to other decorative concrete finishes while producing a monolithic concrete slab at low life-cycle cost due to the pre-aged nature of the surface. Used in combination with a variety of color and staining options, Bomanite Sandscape® Texture creates consistent texture and durable hardscapes ideal for plazas, walkways, shopping centers, schools and more.

Broadmoor Hotel Events Center

PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS/INFORMATION

Description:

The events center is the third major project Bomanite Licensee, Colorado Hardscapes, has completed with Bomanite Systems at The Broadmoor Hotel.

For the events center the general contractor needed an 8200 sq. ft. entry for the new conference center that welcomed guests creating an experience of style and glamour even before setting foot into the building. The true stand outs on this project are the Silicon Carbide fines in the color hardener which give a shimmering effect when the sun hits the Bomanite Texture just right. Unfortunately the sea of sparkles is mostly visible to the human eye and not in photographs. The Heavy Slate Texture was given a decorative feel with 6’ o.c. sawcuts throughout.

Fresno Fairgrounds Entrance

Bomanite Licensed Contractor, Heritage Bomanite, was asked to join the team of contractors creating a newly designed entrance to the Fresno Fairgrounds. Heritage Bomanite worked closely with Wildwood Pools in designing the layout and materials to be used. The Bomacron pattern Large Sandstone was chosen for the surface of the entrance. To provide a natural look Bomanite Sand Color Hardener and Natural Gray and  Bomanite Franciscan Red Release Agent were chosen for the color option. Seat walls and caps were also installed along with the custom rock and small water features that were created.

Broadstone Cornerstar Apartments

Client Need:
The existing slabs were showing shrinkage cracks from a previous installation, therefore the client needed a product that wouldn’t crack, require little maintenance, and add an updated look to the residential complex as well as be weather resistant.

Solution:
Bomanite Toppings Systems, Broadcast Aggregate with Bomanite Florspartic 100 was chosen to replace the flooring on the existing breezeways. This product can be installed in cold temperatures, has a short dry time, high durability, and low maintenance. A great solution for a high-traffic residential complex. The entire courtyard flowed with
harmonizing colors and textures inherent in each feature.

Results:
This product had to be installed while tenants were occupying the building, but due to the short dry time it was easier to work around the tenants. This product was an excellent choice because of low maintenance, high durability, high slip-resistance, and a color choice that complimented the exterior finish.
